Welcome
Thank you for your interest in joining us here in Bury.
Supported by our Let's Do It strategy for Bury 2030 we are working with commitment and purpose to build an organisation that delivers brilliant results for our residents and communities and is an amazing place to work for our staff.
The "Let's Do It!" strategy's vision for Bury 2030, which aims to foster faster economic growth, reduce deprivation, challenge inequality and enhance community power will resonate deeply with your strong social work values.
I am particularly inspired by the strategy's emphasis on putting relationships first and creating a borough where every individual plays their part. This aligns perfectly with my belief in the power of community and collaborative efforts to drive meaningful change and runs through the core of all our activities.
We aim to support our people locally with support close to home connecting them with community services and where they do need care and support making sure this comes from local providers employing a workforce from Bury.
All our interventions are enterprising, we are creative with our care and support plans and the way we support our local care providers and voluntary sector partners.
We are passionate about our partnerships and always work together with our health partners where all our services are delivered in partnership. We treat our care providers as partners and most importantly of all, the people we support.
And we always take a strengths based approach, recognising and building on the strengths of our people, our workforce and our communities.
Did you spot it? Local, Enterprising, Together and Strengths
Having this approach at the heart of everything we do has enabled us to deliver large scale transformation across all of our services.
In the last few years we have introduced new integrated neighbourhood teams, a new safeguarding team, a brand new reviewing team, a whole new commissioning and quality assuranee team.
We have transformed and enhanced our intermediate care and rapid response services which now support over 6500 people per year and improved the way we commission care and shape our market. This has seen £8m of investment in new accommodation schemes and sees many many people now supported in borough rather than having to go far away from home.
By transforming services rather than cutting them we have not only been able to deliver a balanced budget but also invest in our services. In the last 2 years alone, we have grown our social work workforce by well over 20 new posts.
We have also invested in progression and development for our qualified staff and enhanced the support we offer to students undertaking placements and support for our social work apprentices. By more than doubling the size of our practice development and support services with a further additional post on the way we have been able to more than double the number of apprenticeship and placements we offer which means we have very low numbers of vacancies across our social work teams as our students and apprentices recognise what a great place Bury is to work.
As Principal Social Worker you will get to lead and further develop this great pipeline of new talent creation. And you won't be doing it alone as we benefit from being part of the Greater Manchester family where you will be joining 9 other PSWs in our Greater Manchester PSW network and make full use of the Greater Manchester social work academy. If you've never worked in Greater Manchester before it's a great family to be part of.
I and the other 9 DASSs in Greater Manchester understand the critical role the PSWs play in ensuring high standards of social work practice and supporting the professional development of social workers and we support each other and share and develop learning together. This is a place you'll ever feel unsupported in your role.
I am committed to providing the PSW with adequate time and room to deliver the role's expectations because I recognise the immense effort involved in upholding first class social work practices and fostering an amazing team within our organisation. Consequently, I have ensured that this position is free from extra tasks so you can concentrate solely on these fundamental objectives.
I am sure we will get the opportunity to meet as the process unfolds. I would be very happy to speak with you if you would like to find out more about how we might work together to meet Bury's Adult Social Care ambitions. In the first instance, speak with Kelly Ridley at Penna via Kelly.Ridley@Penna.com or call 07709 512415 and she will be delighted to assist.
Can't wait to hear from you
