The Role
Principal Social Worker
£63,000 to £68,944 Chief Officer Band A + benefits
Location: Bury Town
Ref:
Across the Bury area, vulnerable adults rely on us every day. To give them the best possible service we’re changing and evolving; aiming for ever-higher standards of service delivery. As a Principal Social Worker, you’ll be at the heart of our endeavours, transforming social work practice. If you want to lead progress – and help improve the quality of lives – this is your opportunity.
Joining us in a statutory role, you’ll oversee social work practice within Adults Services. It’s a chance to drive the design and delivery of policy and practice for our local community. To instill these changes, you’ll manage a team who will ensure that learning and development is delivered to Social Work staff across the borough. Meanwhile, you’ll provide expertise, leadership and influence at a senior level.
When you’re not improving the design and delivery of services, you’ll be taking responsibility for quality assurance of all adult health functions across the department. At the same time, you’ll champion the social work profession through strategic partnerships and national links with the Chief Social Worker.
To thrive in this pivotal role, you’ll need to be resilient, quick to adapt and flexible in the face of change. You’ll also need a degree (or equivalent), registration with Social Work England, and comprehensive knowledge of the competency framework. While technical expertise is important, it’s only half the story. We’re also looking for the ability to lead teams, drive improvements, develop practice and demonstrate good communication skills.
If that sounds like you, we can offer you a career-defining role that comes with rewarding challenges. Let’s make change happen. Let’s do it for Bury.
